The Diaspora Hospital in Kenya

Over 50% of the Diaspora Kenyans work or have worked in hospitals and medical facilities in the developed world. These Diaspora Kenyans are part of the highest quality healthcare offered in diverse hospitals in the World. Some have worked in the hospitals ranked as the best hospitals that include: Mayo Clinic of Rochester, MN that employs 76,000 persons and serves Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ, Jacksonville, FL and London, UK; Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA; The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD and many others.

The Diaspora Hospital in Kenya initiative is underway to achieve the Diaspora Hospital in Kenya. The Hospital system and plan will be achieved as Diaspora University Trust and Diaspora Kenyans from diverse professionals contribute toward the hospital system and plans.

First is the Business systems and plans. The Diaspora University Town – Master Development Plan (DUT-MDP) has created business systems and plans for meeting the healthcare needs of the town residents and students through a budget that the primary beneficiaries finance. The plan also takes into consideration the Kenya constitution rights of healthcare, emergency treatment, children rights and other rights. As a town with 25,000 residents, 5,000 students and an average of 3,000 visitors a day is achieved; the hospital yearly budget is planned to grow to Ksh 4 billion.

Second are the systems and plans of medicine, surgery, health, education, medical equipment, medical supplies, support services, environment, building and other plans. Collectively the plans will be called the Diaspora Medical Hospital Plan. The plans will be written from the years of working in diverse medical fields and hospital buildings in countries abroad.

Third is the building plan whose floor and rooms design plan incorporates and integrates the diverse medical and services departments; the travel corridors, hallways, lifts and elevators; the patient rooms and bathrooms; doctor’s offices; nurses stations; medical supplies storage rooms; radiology and diagnostic equipment rooms; laboratory; staff lockers and break room; cafeteria and food area; building service rooms, public and staff toilets and others rooms.
