There are currently 25 million Kenyans aged 20 years and below. For them to realize their constitutional rights—environmental, economic, social, and children's rights—over the next 20 years, Kenya's banking assets must grow to over Ksh 250 trillion (approximately $2 trillion). This required growth, driven by creating 25 million jobs and 10 million housing units for the 25 million, represents a massive opportunity for Kenya's banking sector.

Global benchmarks demonstrate that this scale of growth is achievable. The world’s top 30 banks in 9 countries each hold assets exceeding $1 trillion. China’s economic expansion from a $150 billion GDP in 1978 to $20 trillion in 2025 enabled nine of its banks to surpass $1 trillion in assets. Two Canadian banks hold $1.7 trillion and $1.5 trillion in assets, serving a population of 40 million.
In contrast, Kenya’s banking sector currently stands at Ksh 8.5 trillion ($65 billion) for a population of 54 million. With consideration that the biggest asset of banks is loans advanced from deposits; Kenya banking sector can grow using models that have worked in these countries.

To reach the $2 trillion target as 25 million young Kenyans aged below 20 years progressively mature, financing their 10 million housing units at an average of $100,000 will generate $1 trillion in Kenya banking assets while fulfilling their right to housing. The other $1 trillion in growth would come from loans for property, equipment, business and personal development to support the access to rights for food, healthcare, education, clean water, children and others.
The Diaspora University Town (DUT) project, initiated by Diaspora Kenyans and the Ndara B Community, is currently implementing a banking sector integration plan. DUT plan for creating 20,000 jobs and developing 10,000 housing units will progressively lead to about 40,000 loans issued that expand banking assets by about Ksh 80 billion.

Looking forward, the DUT model—anchored by Diaspora University—aims to scale across all 47 counties to develop 100 new towns through creating 1 million jobs and developing over 500,000 housing units for some of the 25 million Kenyans aged below 20 years. This will also expand the banking sector assets by Ksh 10 trillion of the Ksh 250 trillion opportunity.

JOINING DUT ILLUSTRATION
A Teacher/Government Employee or Kenyan can use the DUT system and available banking products to develop a DUT Townhouse. This illustration shows how a Government employee can apply Ksh 11,632 a month of their pay to earn Ksh 1 million by becoming a DUT townhouse developer.

For every Kenyan family to achieve good housing over 20 million formal jobs need to be created and 7 million housing units developed in the next 10 years (by 2035), as Kenya's population grows to 65 million. The DUT system and its developers will create as many jobs as possible and develop as many houses as possible. For example a developer who sells a DUT townhouse unit and achieves Ksh 1.3 million will have the opportunity to build more housing units and grow their wealth using the DUT job creation and housing development system.
