Constitution of Kenya article 43 reads, (1) Every person has the right— (c) to be free from hunger, and to have adequate food of acceptable quality.” Yusuf Mohamed, the founder of Kilimo Net, Joan of the African Institute of Capacity Development (AICAD) located at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and their team paid a visit to the Diaspora University Town (DUT). The team are looking to advance food production in Kenya when applying technology.
As Diaspora University Town develops toward its goal of a town with 25,000 residents and a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Ksh 15 billion, it's food consumption market will exceed Ksh 1.5 billion annually. Ndara B Community has so far established plans for 14 farms of about 200 acres for production of food products that include: goat farming, beef farming, pork farming, chicken meat and eggs farming, divere crops farming, flower farming, insect farming, and other farming.
Yusuf who studied at JKUAT and has since founded Kilimo Net, introduced the diverse technologies, products and services that Kilimo net has to offer to the 14 farming businesses so as to maximize productivity. Nelson Mwende of Ndara B Community welcomed the guests saying the community was open to applying the technologies, products and services.
Dan Kamau on the other hand introduced the development of the Diaspora University Town and the GDP of Ksh 20 billion of advancing all the Constitutional rights in article 43: (1) Every person has the right (a) to the highest attainable standard of health, which includes the right to health care services, including reproductive health care; (b) to accessible and adequate housing, and to reasonable standards of sanitation; (c) to be free from hunger, and to have adequate food of acceptable quality; (d) to clean and safe water in adequate quantities; (e) to social security; and (f) to education.
He said that from the new GDP of Ksh 20 billion about Ksh 2 billion will go toward food consumption. He said the 14 farms will have a ready market from this new GDP. He pointed out that the Diaspora University Town and Ndara B development plan are established to achieve and comply with the right of environment in atticle 42: Every person has the right to a clean and healthy environment.
Dan further pointed out that Diaspora University will work hand in hand with the MSMEs to support the farming and constitutional rights attainment through the diverse Departments established that include: Agriculture, Engineering, ICT, Development studies, Business, Environment, health and others.

For every Kenyan family to achieve good housing over 20 million formal jobs need to be created and 7 million housing units developed in the next 10 years (by 2035), as Kenya's population grows to 65 million. The DUT system and its developers will create as many jobs as possible and develop as many houses as possible. For example a developer who sells a DUT townhouse unit and achieves Ksh 1.3 million will have the opportunity to build more housing units and grow their wealth using the DUT job creation and housing development system.
