The DUT workshop of 23rd August 2024 is for advancing Diaspora University Town (DUT) development. DUT development is planned based on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) approach with a goal of meeting the Kenyans constitution rights 42, 43 and 53. These rights include: Healthcare, Housing, Food, Clean Water, Social Security, Education, Emergency Treatment, Clean Healthy Environment and Children Rights. Those attending the DUT workshop will come to advance the attainment of the constitution rights through the DUT Ksh 15 billion GDP plan. The plan will create 15,000 jobs for Gen Z.

Diaspora University

The Diaspora University Plan will grow to about 5,000 students and a budget of Ksh 3 billion. About 50% of the budget will be applied to the 1,000 jobs created, of faculty and staff. The other 50% will be MSMEs revenues as MSMEs supply the university and meet the student’s needs.

Diaspora University Medical Hospital

The Diaspora University medical hospital Plan will meet the town residents, students and others healthcare right. The goal is to grow to a yearly budget of Ksh 4 billion. About 50% of the budget will pay the 1,500 jobs created. The other 50% will be applied toward MSMEs supplying the hospital with medicine, supplies and other products and services.

The town will grow to 25,000 residents as the development plan that incorporates 3,778 properties development and a 60 km road and infrastructure network is achieved. A management and sustenance budget of Ksh 1 billion will be developed. About 50% of the budget will be applied toward 500 town jobs. The other 50% will be MSMEs revenue for supplies to the town.

Design-Build MSME

The design build (DB) incorporates: 3,778 properties development, 4,000 buildings construction, 60 km road and infrastructure network construction and other. The DB MSME will be set up in a 9.2 acre plot. The MSME is projected to reach Ksh 20 billion revenue per year. About 50% revenue will be from DUT work and the other 50% from other sites. The company will have about 2000 jobs.

Daktari Biotechnology Ltd

The Daktari Biotechnology Ltd of medicine and vaccines will set up a plant on an 11 acres plot at DUT. The company will have several pharmacies in the town. The company goal is to grow its revenue to reach Ksh 20 billion. 500 jobs located at Diaspora University Town will be paid from this revenue. MSMEs supplying the company will make their revenue from the Ksh 20 billion. Investors who invest will get a return of about 30% of the revenue.

DUT Credit Ltd

DUT Credit Ltd is a financial MSME of the Diaspora University Town. The MSME will be set up on a 3 acre plot. DUT Credit Ltd is progressing to become the main financial institution of the town. The mortgages, business and individual loans are expected to surpass the Ksh 100 billion mark. DUT Credit Ltd target is to achieve Ksh 10 billion revenue.  The company revenue will pay 300 jobs. The investors return will be about 30% of the revenue every year.

DUT MSMEs

About 300 MSMEs will open at Diaspora University Town. The MSMEs are allocated 140 plots for their buildings. The MSMEs are projected to make from Ksh 1 million upward. The MSMEs will create about 9.200 jobs.

3,500 Townhouses and 3,200 Apartments

Kenya Constitution right of housing reads, “43. (1) Every person has the right— (b) to accessible and adequate housing, and to reasonable standards of sanitation.” The 3,500 townhouses and 3,200 apartments will achieve this right for those taking up the 15,000 jobs and settling in the town together with their families. The property valuation will grow past the Ksh 50 billion. The developers and owners will make returns through value growth and usage income.
