Dr. Philip Mwalali studied medicine at the University of Nairobi. He would later practice medicine in Kenya before relocating to the U.S. In the U.S he would settle in the Durham region where Duke University is located. Today he is telling Diaspora Kenyans to join Diaspora University Town (DUT) to develop houses, and to open the Diaspora University Medical Hospital.

Medical hospital systems that are established alongside universities achieve very successful systems for providing healthcare. They are always improving as they engage in research. Dr. Mwalali and other healthcare professionals are asking their fellow doctors and nurses to join them in founding the hospital.

One becomes part of founding the hospital through becoming a townhouse developer. As Duke University created 43,108 jobs at the university, the hospital and healthcare system, the planned housing next to the university and hospital meet the housing needs of those taking up the jobs.

Dr. Mwalali is optimistic that Diaspora Kenyans who get the best healthcare in the developed world will develop the hospital, townhouses and open MSMEs that facilitate the attainment of the highest standard of health.

The Diaspora University Medical Hospital budget is projected to grow to a budget of over Ksh 4 billion yearly. The budget will meet the healthcare right in Kenya constitution. Kenya constitution states: 43. (1) Every person has the right— (a) to the highest attainable standard of health, which includes the right to health care services, including reproductive health care; (2) A person shall not be denied emergency medical treatment.
