In the last 24 years Diaspora Kenyans have remitted $38 billion about Ksh 4 trillion. The money has done very little to advance Kenya. Alice David and Dr. Phillip Mwalali are determined to change this and have Diaspora money achieve the Diaspora University Town that will have a university, hospital and diverse MSMEs. To achieve this Alice and Dr. Mwalali talked to Diaspora Kenyans inviting them to join DUT as townhouse developers.
Alice David who joined DUT as a Townhouse Developer is also looking to spearhead the opening of a clothing industry that will make clothes for the Diaspora University Town workers and residents; Diaspora University branded clothing including sports teams wear; Diaspora University hospital doctors coats, nurses scrubs, patient gowns, diverse MSMEs at DUT and in Kenya branding wear; Kenya casual wear for Kenya and to send to Diaspora markets and other wear.
Dr. Philip Mwalali also joined DUT as a townhouse developer. He is today with others working to achieve the Diaspora University Medical Hospital. The hospital that will be a level 5/6 hospital when achieved will be similar to any university hospital. A university hospital close to Dr. Mwalali is the Duke University Medical Hospital.
The Diaspora Kenyans in DUT are optimistic that as more Diaspora join they will play a role in growing the industries in Kenya. The hospital medical supplies room in any hospital has over 50 products. The goal is to open industries that supply this products and raise the standard of healthcare in Kenya.
